PS3Hax member, Descrambler has released a fix for Singstar – Back to the 80′s (BCES01257), which has been confirmed working on CFW 3.41/3.55 (Singstar requires firmware 3.70).

So what exactly did he do to get this working?

To quote:

When the system launches a disc, it gets the Title ID – in our case BCES01257 – from the PARAM.SFO of the disc. There are no checks if the eboot will fit for that PARAM.SFO – So it can mismatch without having any issues. But what the system checks is if there are updates installed for the Title ID : root/game/BCES01257/

So i patched the PARAM.SFO to Title ID BCES00494 – That’s Singstar Queen.

And the linked update BCES00494.pkg contains a 3.41 EBOOT.BIN that includes a full Singstar 5.10 player software for the new generation of Singstar discs (With PSMove support and Singstar Guitar).

So the 80′s disc launches and sees the updated player in root/game/BCES00494/ and lauches this instead of the 3.70′s EBOOT on the disc.

Theres also the possibility to depkg the queen update and change all BCES00494 Id’s to BCES01257 and create a fake 80′s update. I decided to patch as less as possible to keep the files original and used this nice trick

ICO and Shadow of the Colossus was leaked a few days early around the net, and it is confirmed to be playable on firmware 3.55/3.41 CFW. Interesting to see how new releases are still finding it around CFW users. Recently Limbo was also reported with a 3.55 CFW fix, you can read about that here.

Since the release of Tical’s task for ps3mfw builder we have seen several mfw that have been released with cinavia patched out.  Well now you no longer have to leave your favorite firmware to enjoy that option. Codename: Rebug has released a handy little .pkg to do that for you. Remember this is unnecessary if you are already using any of Rebug’s firmwares.

It does sound “too good to be true”, however PSX-Scene reports the legitimacy of this products with the distributors. We will find out soon enough if this USB stick holds true to its word

Sup folks, it seems like the 3.55 firmware downgrader has been released (3.55 to 3.41), we reported previously that kakarot was working on a method to downgrade using a PUP file, but decided not to release it because it only worked in one machine, but now there is hope for you 3.55 users the downgrader has been released. Some people are getting annoyed that they cannot play their PSN content on lower firmwares. Well i have found how to, everything thing ive tried works, so hopefully it will work for you as well.

1: Update your PS3 to 3.50

[ROot] PS3/UPDATE/3.50.PUP

2: Re-Enable PSN with the DNS hack

DNS PRIMARY: 67.202.81.137

Same for secondary
3: Now sign into PSN and go to Account Management —> Activate account –> PS3

Download PSN Content.

4: Once downloaded, start the game, then exit to XMB.

5: Backup Hard disk, from the system menu.

6: Downgrade to 3.41

7: Restore backup

8: now you can play your PSN Game on 3.41

The PS3 TEST Debug Firmware 3.41 has been leaked by someone known as Blackpen0. over at Xorloser’s blog. This firmware is useful for those with Test PS3 units. You can find download link @ source (can’t link it here as its not legal).

Well it seems there is a rumor flying around (confirmed working read below), that accessing PSN is possible on Jailbroken consoles that have firmwares 3.15 and 3.41, using the PS3Yes Hex, here is a very badly translated quote from the source:

Hello Guys and Girls,

Today a copy of black ops arrived “in the usual places” and it required 3.50 to play.

JonahUK pointed out that when the EBOOT.BIN was viewed with a hex editor it showed it was compiled with the 3.40 SDK meaning it was debug update time!!!

I extracted the EBOOT.BIN file and PRAM.SFO from the 1.02 debug update modified them and made a pack here:

Here is a tutorial to get the game working:
(make sure you backup all your files first incase you do something wrong)

Step One:

download the files and go to where you put your game and edit your pram.sfo to say 3.40 with PS3SFOEdit (included In pack)

Step Two

Update the game to 1.02 using the retail update for your region.

now if you have the BLES01032 version just use the SFO.PRAM file inc in my pack and place it in that directory overwriting the old one.

if you have another version of the game use PS3SFOEdit to edit your sfo to say 3.40 in advanced edit. SAVE IT then replace it.

double check everything, Then play.

The next part comes from hunter128 from here and seems to only apply if you have run the game previously and been prompted to update.

Looks like Spanish hacker maquina07, has found a way to bypass the recent game firmware requirement. We can now play PS3 games that require FW 3.42 on FW 3.41. Various reports throughout the internet have confirmed it working, and you can view a POC video below:

To play Medal of Honor, you are required to download THIS FILE, created by,maquina07 which contains the required PARAM.SFO. maquina07 was also using OM2 and hermesV4, not sure if it works with other versions/combinations.  Details are coming in bits and bobs on how to exactly get this working so I will update the front post when I get more information.

In meantime, give it a shot if you have the new MoH, and let us know what worked for you and how you did it.

How to, (confirmed working):

The video shows real playing and the XMB with the install packages and the firmware version, just to show that’s true.

The method is:

* Have Hermes V4 version
* Edit PARAM.SFO to ask for the 3.41 firmware.
* Copy the eboot from UFC 2010
* Install OManager 2.1, that will patch the game.
* This patch makes tha data game install in the external hd instead of internal.

Load the game and install the 1.01 patch of the game from internet, and then the game will ask you to install the game data, that will be in the external if we’ve loaded the patch.

SlickCoderZ aka Develio13 aka Jordandyckes, has released a new version, of his PSN Download Manger and it works on PS3 Firmware 3.41, before anyone asks, no it wont let you go online with firmware 3.15 and no it wont let you download free games of PSN.

Recently, i reported here , that some people were having problems upgrading their HDD’s after they updated to 3.41, Sony previously refuted the claims, saying that the firmware wasn’t to blame and that it was the HDD’s that people were using.
CVG(Computer And Video Games), has reported that Sony has appologized for this problem and have released a new version of 3.41, they quoted Sony saying this:

For those users who are replacing the PS3 hard disk drive: we are aware of the symptoms with the system software update 3.41, released on July 27, and that it will cause the update to stop in some occasions while replacing the PlayStation 3 (PS3) Hard Disk Drive (HDD) if the PS3 system is installed with version 3.41.

To resolve these symptoms, we have released a new version of system software update 3.41 with a very minor change (the version number does not change) on August 2. If you are experiencing such symptoms when replacing the HDD of your PS3 system, we kindly ask you to use the latest data and try again. We apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused, and appreciate your understanding and continued support.

It happens every time a firmware is released, someone complains about the update causing problems and this update is no exception, forum member $n!pR mentioned, here on Wednesday, that those that updated, were having problems upgrading their hard drives, on Thursday Examiner.com confirmed this, here is short snippet from their site:

The problems being reports are the following: PS3 owners are unable to update their system to firmware 3.41, HDD upgrades aren’t being allowed, systems are crashing, and after installing a new HDD the system isn’t fully downloading the file and then prompts users with a message stating ‘no applicable data found’.

Sony did respond to online inquiries regarding this topic with this response:

“We apologize for any inconvenience you are experiencing with upgrading Internal Hard Disc Drive (for PlayStation®3) on your PlayStation(R)3 computer entertainment system. The information available to our Consumer Services Department does not suggest that this is a problem PlayStation(R) owners are likely to experience when upgrading the HDD with 3.41update. Sony Computer Entertainment America (SCEA) strongly supports the quality of its products and backs them with full confidence.

We ask that you update the previous HDD first to see if the update will go through. Then update from the thumb drive that is formatted in FAT 32 and has the 3.41 update downloaded.”

Now before everybody starts screaming, “But i have a 320GB HDD and i updated fine”, this dosnt affect you guys, it affects those who are tring to upgraded their HDD’s after updating the firmware.
