Coveman has released Open PS2 Loader for Cobra USB, to quote:

* You don’t need SWAP MAGIC
* You don’t need any optical disc at all in your PS3
* Works on PS3 non-BC (tested on my SLIM) (CobraUSB required)

I created an “Open PS2 Loader” ISO file, so you can just load it from Cobra Manager or multiMAN.

Just extract the .rar and transfer it to your internal HDD to /dev_hdd0/PS2ISO

I included the cover so you can either put it in /covers_retro/psx/SLES_806.08_COV.JPG or rename it to “Open PS2 Loader.jpg” and put it along side the ISO in PS2ISO foler.

It seems as though the cobra team has no limits on what they can do with their USB dongle. This time they’ve added support for PSP games in ISO format.There are problems with being able to save your game but most games are known to run at full speed.

So I was on Blackcats checking out the new releases and I came across a “PS2 netflix disk” uploaded by a fellow Blackcats member named mredfield.

So I gave it a shot on my Cobra USB enabled PS3 and sure enough…. it works! Yes it’s lacking all the HD glory of the PS3 version but it works!

Apparently this is a very rare disk so I shall upload it for all to enjoy

“This is verified a legit release from Brazil. I called netflix today and talked on the phone. They said netflix for ps2 is available only in Brazil which is why no info is available, this means it isnt a hack, it wont steal info, ect.”

It’s also a padded ISO so don’t be surprised by the extraction size.

Also I am assuming this will only work on PS3′s with native PS2 support.

Many of us in the PS3 hacking community may have just had their wishes fulfilled because just today the team behind Cobra-USB have released the long-awaited Cobra 3.0 Firmware Pack! This means only one thing! – Cobra-USB functionality on 3.55 machines. A quote from their official website:

Changelog:

- Added compatibility with 3.55. Support for firmware 3.41 is discontinued, since now all updates will be for 3.55.
In 3.55, Cobra keeps all the features of previous versions, adds the ones listed below and also removes some of the annoyances of the jailbreak exploit.
Please, follow the steps in the manual, you must install first Cobra 3.55 cfw.
- Added a new discless mode for PS3 backups in jailbreak format. This mode will be activated automatically when you load a backup and there is no disc inserted.
In this mode, games are loaded from disc icon, not app_home, although app_home hack is still supported.
This mode has a higher compatibility than the app_home hack, and smaller than discless PS3 isos.
- Added support for PS2 backups in iso format to the remaining backwards compatible models (CECHA and CECHB).
- PS2 isos can now be played discless too.
- Fixed compatibility issue with GT5. If you still experience poroblems, please delete installed game data from XMB and try again.
