    $./pup_unpacker.exe

    PUP Unpacker & Decrypter v2.2
    By Evilnat

    Usage: pup_unpacker.exe [OPTION] filename.pup directory
    Example: pup_unpacker.exe -all PS3UPDAT.PUP OFW355

    Options (ONLY CHOOSE ONE):

    -h, –help displays this help
-x, –un-pup unpack PUP files only
    -e, –un-tar unpack update_files.tar of PUP only
-c, –deun-core decrypt and unpack Core_OS of PUP file only
-t, –deun-tar decrypt and unpack TAR files of PUP only

-all, –deun-all unpack and decrypt entire PUP files

    __________________________________________________________________________________________________

    - Usage:

    1) Unpack folder of RAR on your home directory in Cygwin (C:cygwinhomeXXXXUnpacker)
    2) Copy PS3UPDAT.PUP file you want in it
    3) Open Cygwin’s console and enter the folder
    4) And type: (OFW_355 is an example, you can change this)

    ./pup_unpacker.exe [OPTION] PS3UPDAT.PUP OFW_355

    [ Example: ./pup_unpacker.exe -all PS3UPDAT.PUP OFW_355 ]

    5) Now depending what option you had choosen the executable will do it all automatically

All is done, “dev_decrypted_unpacked” folders contain self decrypted files

This program requires certain exe files and PS3 keys that are included in RAR, DONґT DELETE THEM
If an error occurs it will stop automatically, showing what has happened
    Hope this helps someone

It seems some talented dev behind the DS scene is interested on the ps3 and has been hard at work by dumping the dev_flash of the 4.0 firmware… thats right guys you heard it right UpSilon managed to dump the dev_flash contents for other to have a look, here is a rough translation of what he had to say:

Here is a dump of the version 4.00 dev_flash
I dump my earlier leaked firmware 3.73 (Available for download in the ” Download “), but my site was still under construction and I lost a lot of time to update due to the time I devote to my studies (Terminal LAC) and I did not have much time was devoted to the scene. During the holidays I am responsible, but I will try to give as much information as possible waiting for a response from Kakaroto.
I shared these dumps for the attention of developers to program an emulator we dev_flash. For those who want to test dumps on 3.41JB with “FIRM JaiCrab Load” because you can try on my side, I used “CFWLoad 1.0″ in 3.41JB (PL3).
Emulation looked heavy, I do could not leave the program because after a few seconds the console would have been totally blocked. I thought at first the problem was my jailbreak. However, this was not the case, because after I tried with a 3.41 dump (edit) and loading it well. I finally concluded that the emulator should help the dev_flash home to work, for this reason that when you make a NAND emulated with SHIFT it resets everything to ultimately make a regular MAJ that will change the real dev_flash your console. Attention, the emulator does not emulate completely dev_flash stored in your USB drive. (Internal HDD etc …).
If developers are interested in these dumps, I hope they will do something. I for my part I work on the Factory / Service Mode firmware higher than 3.56 and the Nintendo 3DS.

Another homebrew app has been released that mounts a writable dev_flash. The great thing about this one is that it supposedly works on all firmwares. This will save alot of time for people wanting to modify their flash files since they will no longer have to run the AsbestOS installer. More and the source below:

    dev_blind – a simple writable dev_flash mounter
This homebrew just does what the title says (plus unmounting, if you run it again).

Tested on PS3 3.55 (kmeaw, if you need me to be more specific). It should work on any firmware though.

This enables writing to the flash, which is vital to the operation of the console’s operating system – use this at your own risk.

This homebrew was created using the PSL1GHT SDK.

edit: in comparison with FreeFlash: this is ONLY using two syscalls (one for mounting, one for unmounting) – simple, efficient, and works.

    !!DISCLAIMER/WARNING/WHATEVER, YOU’LL DO IT ANYWAY…

Make a back up of your dev_flash before attempting anything with writrable flash (PS3 Firmware) slightest mistake could cost you your ps3.

If you do brick, and it blinks when doing so, boot into recovery and re-flash your current firmware – 3.55

    Unbrick PS3

The above tutorial covers *soft bricks*, so just be careful, I will not be held responsible for your unfortunate misshaps.

    ITEMS NEEDED
    [x] COMGENIE AWESOME FILEMANAGER

    [x] ASBESTOS INSTALLER 1.4 PKG

    1: Download AsbestOS 1.4 & install.

2: Run It. Leave it to install, no HDD light will flash while installing, so you’ll have to just wait untill it finishes.

Once its done it will have PRESS [X] TO QUIT Or something, also you will get an error stating that it could not inject something into LV2 – IGNORE the error.

    3. Now go to Comgenie and there you will have another folder saying rwdev_flash.

    4. Just be careful, i cannot stress this enough.

[*] Thanks to Bobby Blunt. : ) for showing me this neat trick :D

Are you bored with the standard PS3 bootup sound? Or would like the old one back [pre-3.00fw] Well now you can thanks to Alejandro+ Jaicrab and PS3mrenigma. They have produced an app that allows writing to dev_flash.

Also thanks to Japsander for the idea of the Epic Tune Of Success, and Comgenie for the manager XD

    And on with the tutorial.

    You’ll need to install

    Dev_flash RW Alejandro

    Comgenie’s File Manager

    XVid4PSP (on the pc obvs)

    [PART ONE]

To get the R/W dev_flash to work, you’ll need a hex enabled with Peek&Poke. Then fire up the app. You’ll get an message saying “This program enables A Dev_Flash unit with WRITE ACCESS! It is your responsiblity! If you erase the firmware or make it brick its YOUR FAULT!” etc. Press O to enable the rewritable flash. it will go “……. Success” then it will quit, taking you back to the XMB.

    [PART TWO]

Fire up Comgenie’s Awesome File Manager
    Scroll down to “dev_alejandro/vsh/resource/

untill you see two files one named: coldboot_multi.ac3 and another called coldboot_stereo.ac3. These two files are what you will need to change, in order to get a custom bootup sound. Dont to anything yet…

    [PART 3]

Grab any mp3 you want, be it from a game or whatever it doesnt matter. Load up XivD4PSP.

You will need to trim it to around 8 seconds as it will get cut off. [like in the video] You’ll see Set Start/Set End and apply trim.

    Audio encoding AC3 640K

Once that is done, and you are happy with your bootup sound, rename it coldboot_multi.ac3 and then the same file as coldboot_stereo.ac3. Save it, by doing Ctrl+S.

Now, copy the files to a USB stick, you should still be in Comgenie’s Manager.

Select 0000 (far right usb) and press select for the screen to go red. Then press O to copy the two files over, and replace them. Exit to the XMB.

Power off your PS3, with or without your JB, and listen to your new Boot Sound.

Another awesome tutorial brought to you by Gliitch.
