The team known as Duplex, well known  for releasing PSN games, has released a 3.55 patch for Battlefield 3 (a FW 3.72 game)! With Uncharted 3 playable only a few hours ago, its definitely been a great weekend for PS3 owners.

UPDATE: But besides the fix for BF3 (note the Uncharted 3 fix is not the same “method” as the BF3 one), there is more good news that comes out of this release. We can’t say much about it right now, but I just received word that there is a VERY good chance that all the games coming this holiday season and pre-existing unplayable games will soon be playable on CFW PS3s!

    D U P L E X

    P R O U D L Y P R E S E N T S: Battlefield 3 – CFW 3.55 Eboot patch

    Date: 10/2011 Languages: English

    Platform: PS3 Genre: Action

    Release Info:

DUPLEX has done it again – here’s an eboot patch to play the retail Disc

based version from your hdd – on CFW 3.55 !!

We would usually just support BLUS30762 (Dcomics release!) , since we do

not acknowledge lame region dupes. It’s just a waste of traffic unless the

nfo clearly states a difference to the first release (like different or

    additional languages etc)

But since the BLES01275 dupe contains several new languages, we added a patch

    for it too

Included are updates, cracks and param.sfo’s for both

    versions: BLUS30762 and BLES01275

1.) copy BLUS or BLES files to a FAT32 USB Key/USB Disk

    2.) install the *DUPLEX*.Patch.v1.01.pkg

    3.) install the *DUPLEX*.Crack.pkg

4.) run game from multiman and let it patch your param.sfo

(alternatively take the one from our pack and replace it manually)

5.) play from xmb on your cfw 3.55 !

Enjoy This Fine DUPLEX Release – BETA code free

ICO and Shadow of the Colossus was leaked a few days early around the net, and it is confirmed to be playable on firmware 3.55/3.41 CFW. Interesting to see how new releases are still finding it around CFW users. Recently Limbo was also reported with a 3.55 CFW fix, you can read about that here.

princess from the evil spirits that dwell within the fortress. Blurring the
lines between fantasy and reality, ICO embarks on a quest to save the
princess and along the way, discovers his own cryptic fate

Shadow of the Colossus is a majestic journey through ancient lands to seek
out and destroy gigantic mythical beasts. With your trusty horse at your

While most people are eagerly waiting for a backup manager to accompany the Geohot CFW, it seems that Riku.kh3 has managed to boot PS3 game backup (Castlevania: Lords of Shadow) WITHOUT the need of a BM. What he did was essentially trick the PS3 into thinking that the game backup is actually a PSN game (by patching EBOOT.BIN).

So how do you patch your own EBOOT? Well Riku.kh3 has posted a small guide below, it by no means is newb friendly and requires you to know what you are doing, to quote:

    1) Download and compile latest tools from git.fail0verflow.com Git (old versions of unself produce incorrect ELF)
    2) Extract ELF from SELF
    3) Hexedit ELF, find and replace dev_bdvd to correct path on dev_hdd0 (not all, but most games require this step)
    4) Build NPDRM SELF using Geohot’s tools
    5) Build package using psn_package_npdrm
    6) Patch your builded package using Geohot’s tool (only for 3.55 firmware)

That’s it. If you can’t follow this guide, more detailed guide won’t help you.

    //RikuKH3

And here is the modified EBOOT for Castlevania: Lords of Shadow:

Castlevania: Lords of Shadow (BLES01047) signed&packed EBOOT (33.5MB)

Multiupload.com – upload your files to multiple file hosting sites!

    1) Install PKG file.
    2) Transfer contents of USRDIR folder, EXCEPT EBOOT.BIN, to /devhdd0/game/BLES01047/USRDIR/

Thats all! Tested! The game will work from XMB on retail nonJB 3.41, 3.55 and future versions.

Let us know your results with other games.

With the 3.50 appldr keys being released, it wouldn’t be long before someone got to work on getting games that required firmware 3.50 working.

The GT5 eboot has been apparently released.
If anyone can confirm it working.

What a booming weekend for the PS3 scene, Graf_Chokolo has just announced that he is now able to decrypt EBOOT.BIN.

    To quote:

Guys, i’m able now to decrypt games, EBOOT.bins
I will make my findings public very soon

    Here is a snippet of a game i decrypted: #1347337 – Pastie

Guys, how can I install NP-DRMs on my PS3, I have no clue!

However other sites are reporting that this is the decrypted Eboot for Sonic 4 which is not the case it is actually the eboot from Sonic’s Ultimate Genesis Collection which is old (around FW 2.x) and really has nothing to do with playing FW 3.50 games on FW 3.41.

The new and first game to require firmware 3.42 is the Medal of Honor game, many thought that by patching the PARAM.SFO we could trick the PS3 into bypassing the update – however after testing it does not work…why? Mathieulh has posted on his twitter, that:

By the way, new game keys were added in the 3.42 appldr, if you get a 0×80010019 error that means the self/sprx can’t decrypt.

In laymans terms, in the 3.42 FW update, Sony added NEW encryption keys to the new era of PS3 games being released, the older PS3 firmwares (3.41) does not contain these encryption keys, so the PS3 fails to decrypt the games when ran resulting in error (80010019).

So what next? Well now we have to figure out how to decrypt the EBOOT.BIN for newer PS3 games, allowing us to then redistribute the new encrypted keys…but of course as you can imagine this will take a while to achieve.
