For those people that love to play classic games, you may have heard of a game called ‘Out of This World’ or ‘Another World’. Another World was a 1991 cinematic platformer and now thanks to efforts of Bobby6killer, it has been ported to the PS3.Here’s a quote from the developer:
Another World for PS3
This project is based on the reverse engine made by Grégory Montoir, and reimplements the game Another World to be played on PS3.
You need the original english DOS data files (in english, the game is known as “Out of This World”).
Screenshots:
Controls
Arrow keys => Allow you to move Lester
Cross => Allow you run/shoot with your gun
Select => allow to enter a code to jump at a specific level
Start => pause the game
Triangle => quit the game
R1 => save game state
L1 => load game state
R2/L2 => change game state slot
FAQ
Where should i place the original game files ?
Place them into /dev_hdd0/game/NEWRAW_00/USRDIR/data folder.
Game freezes and system restarts when i want to leave the game, wtf ?
It’s a known bug, you must use TRIANGLE button to exit game

ThatOtherDev, also goes by ThatOtherPerson, has recently released everything needed for compiling along with the source code. This developer has challenged other devs to try to bring more homebrew games to the PS3 scene.
I don’t remember by whom but I’m reasonably certain I’ve been asked for this before and I suspect there is probably a handful of people that would find this useful. So here it is.
I’ve uploaded a compressed file that contains the (admittedly outdated) compiled copy of PSL1GHT that I’ve been using (and continue to use) for all of my recent PS3 homebrew. The archive also includes the source code for They Do Not Die 2, We Are Nowhere, The Unmapped Forest, Slime Roll, Sketch Fight, Goodbye World, Don’t Get Crushed, Cascade Beneath and Avoidance. Along with the source code is all of the related media.

ThatOtherDev has released another Homebrew Game for the PS3.
Here is the first and very early release of Swingball 2. Unlike its predecessor it is available not only for Wii but also for PS3 (with a PC version forthcoming).
There were some really cool user made levels for the original Swingball that did things I hadn’t even thought of and I’m looking forward to seeing how people take advantage of the new stuff in this game.
There are now blocks that can be swung from but not walked on (they aren’t solid). There are also tiles that will change the direction of gravity when you come in contact with them.
I haven’t begun it yet but I plan to make a WYSIWYG editor which will make it even easier for people to create their own levels.
There is a lot left to do. The game currently just consists of a single test level.
PS3 controls:
Left analog stick = Move
Right analog stick = Aim
L1 = Jump
R1 = Swing
Wii controls:
Analog stick = Move
Pointer = Aim
A = Jump
B = Swing

A member by the name of yvrig has ported the PC game Jetman Revival to the PS3, here is a quote from the developer:
Jetmen Revival Remake for PS3 v0.1 is a homebrew game based on the classic PC game Jetmen Revival. I’ve been busy with my study lately so I decided to share what I’ve got so far.
It supports up to 7-players and well you can fly and shoot & bumb each other. With sound from hermes’ soundlib and graphics from Jetmen Revival.
If you would like to see the code or for questions, email me at yvrig3 AT gmail.com.
Though if you do please know that it is written for the evilsperm version of PSL1GHT since I can’t get the newest version to play nice.

A couple of weeks ago, PS3 and software developer KaKaRoTo released a Homebrew game called Eskiss, in which you moved a ball to a a goal/destination, you could either use your control pad or a mouse, today KaKaRoTo updated the game to support the PS Move, here is a quote from the devs personal blog:
Hi all,
I’m releasing Eskiss with Move support and I think the instructions on how to use it require a bit more than what twitter allows (from my usual small updates).
The instructions are simple, you can still play with a normal mouse if you want, or use the controller to emulate the mouse, just like before. But, if you have a PS Eye camera plugged in, then it will also be ready to handle the Move.
If it detects a move controller, the ball on the controller will be white, at that point, you must press the Action button while pointing the controller to the camera (there’s no image feedback on the screen, so just point and press the action button). This will calibrate the controller and the ball will change color. At this point, moving the controller will also move the cursor on screen.
You can press the Action button at any time to recalibrate the controller (useful if the tracking stops working correctly, or camera falls off), and you can press the Start button at anytime to center the cursor on screen. Pressing the T button trigger will emulate a click.
You have the choice between two tracking modes, the first one (the one selected by default) is the 3D coordinate system, which means the cursor appears on screen with 1 to 1 precision (kind of) with where the controller is located in the room, so you have to move the whole controller to move the cursor (and even maybe stretch your arms to get to the corners), the second tracking mode is using the internal gyroscope of the controller, in other words, you can move the cursor just by pointing or rotating the controller without moving the whole controller in 3D space.
You can switch from one tracking mode to another at any time by pressing the Select button. Try them both and see which one you like best.
P.s: When you press the Action button to calibrate, the ball will change colors a few times, you must not move the controller while it’s doing that, do not move until it becomes a solid, stable color. If the ball becomes white again, it means you moved and the calibration failed… in that case, try again.
P.p.s: In this release, I have also fixed the crash that you might have had in the previous version, so the game should be a lot more stable. While it still might crash, it is now very rare and shouldn’t break the gameplay like it did before.
And here’s a video demo of the game running with the Move controller, courtesy of fungos

PS3Crunch member NEO117 has released some Dos ports for the PS3, they are Prince of Persia, Street Rod and Street Rod 2, he plans to create more, here is a quote from his thread:
I just compiled this PKG with the very first Prince of Persia ready to play on your PS3. Enjoy it.
These games have two PKG’s, one install under the default “games” section, the other installs under the “Homebrew” section, providing you have that section on your PS3.

One of our dedicated developers samson, has released a dos port of Tempest 2000 for the PS3, here is a quote from his thread:
A member ps3hax mappy123 requested a port of the classic Tempest 2000, i figured yeah what the hell.. started working on the dos version last night and was very pleased with how well it runs on the ps3 using dosbox, so i decided as it was a retro gem to give it some nice xmb wallpaper and music..
press r3 at start up for joystick, exit via ps button.
credit go’s to the atari game dev’s and robo hobo for porting dosbox, and gliitch for helping me with the xmb music. and last but not least mappy123 for the idea
enjoy and be kind with your comments , its my first game port and its also been made in a day.
Another project samson has been working on, which i completely forgot about(sorry samson), is “webcuts” , which is a bunch of webtools on your XMB, you can find that here.

Alright folks it seems as the project by Blipi called RNA: (Real Network Access) is sadly come to a stop for the time being. But the good news is that Blipi will be releasing the source code so that someone else here in the scene can pick up where he left off.
This homebrew was to allow custom firmware users to network their games with others, even sync trophies and have a friends list. It will only work with games that have the lan option such as cod, mx vs atv, red dead redemption, and others alike.

Deank as always, is working hard on bringing improvements to his awesome piece of Homebrew, this minor update, removes the old FTP sever and implements jjolano’s OpenPS3FTP, here is a quote from the source:
* Changed: Implemented OpenPS3FTP by jjolano and removed the old buggy FTP server (faster transfer speeds and no path/file length limitations)
This should clear most of the FTP problems multiMAN had. Transfer speed is now faster, you can use 8-16 simultaneous file transfers, and the problem with long path and file names is gone now.
The implementation of openps3ftp is based on older version from jjolano, but still is much much better than what multiMAN had until now, so big thanks to him!

the_marioga has released LuaFPS3 0.1, a port of the famous LuaFWii, which loads and executes lua files.
After the “success” of luafwii, I decided to port it to PS3 and take two parallel developments. For those who do not know LuaFPS3 LuaPlayer for PS3 is that is allows you to run homebrew lua made in your ps3.
Author: the_marioga
What is Lua?
Lua is a programming language, simple and powerful, that does not require to be compiled to run it.
What can you do this lua player?
Show pictures, shapes, display text, data collected and SIXAXIS DualShock3, among other things. Very useful and powerful when programming simple video games.
The features are on file in the RAR reference.html

ThatOtherDev is the only Homebrew game developer who is constant with his releases, here he brings out an update to his Slime Roll game, here is a quote from the changelog
Changelog:
The red circles have been removed and replaced with blue ones that are of a consistent size.
If slime comes in contact with a blue circle then the blue circle becomes slime.
There is on screen text that tells you how many blue circles still exist.
When placing slime in the editor you no longer need to press and release the button for each piece of slime.
There is a limit to how closely you can place two pieces of slime together in the editor.
The same rules for placing slime in the editor also apply to the blue circles.
You can now delete whatever object you are pointing at in the editor (instead of only being able to delete the last thing spawned).
The X in the editor has been replaced with a proper reticule.
There is a slightly nicer title at the menu.
All on screen text fills the same percentage of the screen regardless of resolution.
I’ve fixed the problem where there would sometimes be inappropriate white pixels along the edges of circles.
gravity is slightly stronger. PS3 controls:
Left analog stick = Move the camera
L1 and R1 = rotate the camera and the direction of gravity
L2 and R2 = zoom the camera in and out
X (in the editor) spawn a wall (hold and drag to scale)
Circle (in the editor) spawn a blue blob
Square (in the editor) spawn slime
Triangle (in the editor) remove whatever you are pointing at

blipi has released his project Open OSK, a On-Screen Keyboard for PS3. It’s still under developement, it looks very nice and I would love to see it implemented in Homebrew applications and games.
Well, I thought that maybe someone of interest. It is designed for programmers and a framework in C + +.
This is an OSK (On-Screen Keyboard) for the development of homebrews. Since I did not get to show the PS3 by psl1ght OSK decided to make one. Thinking about thinking I decided that maybe someone else saw this, so I decided to share my work:
It is released under GNU GPL, under which you can freely use the code, but any modification is above code should be released or before uploading it to the repository or enviandomela to me for the climb.
Is still in development, so has a lot of functionality to be added yet.

Sketch Fight is a simple two player fighting game with crudely done hand drawn graphics that are intended to look like something a person would doodle when trying to cope with the mind numbing repetition and tedium that is school.
I only have one PS3 controller at the moment so I haven’t been able to test it properly… Let me know if it isn’t controlling correctly.
PS3 controls:
Left directional button = Move left
Right directional button = Move right
Down directional button = Move crouch
X button = Jump
Square button = punch
Circle button = kick
Note:The controlling does not work correctly. If the second controller is connected, you move both players (with both controllers). Thanks Manster for the tip. Download PS3 Version Source: ThatOtherDev’s Blog
