A few days ago we reported you of GameSuper who managed to boot PSP ISO’s off the PS3. Today, he has posted another video to prove that he indeed is the real deal, and his method is not fake:

    To quote from GamerSuper’s blog:

OK guys, I’ve been working on my tool all these days so there were no news.
Today I’ve made a second video of launching PSP game on the PS3. This time it’s in HD.
Some people didn’t believe me ’cause they didn’t see a file structure of the game.

Also some guys notices that it was strange size of PSP game – there were some extra unneeded files which I forgot to detete. Didn’t think people will explore every frame.

So this video demonstrates Assassin’s Creed Bloodlines launching on the PS3. It’s one of the best titles on the PSP and that’s my one of the favorite game series.

I showed you every folder in root directory of the game so you can clearly see what’s on the HDD and what a game folder contains.
Also, as you may notices, I fixed a sound problem so there is in-game sound now. Loadings became much faster than on PSP itself.

In my next videos I’ll be showing you my program “in action”, after I will finish my tool, some beta testers will be needed. After that I will release a tool which will be compatible with EVERY PSP game.

Also I’m working on PSP homebrew compatibility on the PS3. There are some difficulties, but I’ll manage to succeed I think. So I think soon I will be able to show you PSP homebrew launching on the PS3.

    Stay tuned.

Thanks to dtm808 for the news tip.

“Russian most famous console gamer”, GamerSuper, has shared with PS3Hax that he has managed to boot PSP ISO’s off the PS3, via PSGroove and Backup manager! He has posted a POC video you can view below, and has promised us that he will release a tool to make ANY PSP ISO (your legal backup of course) to work and boot off the PS3!

Here is the email GamerSuper sent us:

I’ve been working on console scene for about 9 years already. Sure you didn’t hear of

me ’cause I’ve never made anything special and innovating.

    But things change.
I’ve been working on PSP games compatibility on PS3 since I’ve made my jailbreak.
And this week a made a real success. I worked very hard with PS3 SDK, learning PS3

architecture and structure etc and I was able to launch PSP game on the PS3.

It was very hard ’cause I changed a lot in game files and a lot on PS3 internal HDD to

get it work. Unfortanally I can’t describe here how to do it manually – it’s very long

and hard and some components are needed which are not leaked to public, and I’m not

    gonna leak them either.

Since principle of re-making game doesn’t differ from game to game, I’m currently
coding a tool which will be able to convert EVERY game from PSP ISO to PS3-compatible

    version automatically.

My project will contain of 2 parts:
1). A PC tool in which you specify input PSP ISO and output directory and just press

Convert and wait 5-7 mins. After that you get full PS3 compatible game. It can be done

    with EVERY game.

2). A homebrew PKG for PS3 which needs to be launched only once to make some changes

and copy some new files on PS3 internal HDD.

The project won’t be open-source. If you don’t have some documents and files which are

not leaked, you won’t succeed in it, I think.

    Here is the video:

Some comments on the video by GamerSuper:

There were some problems with controls since I didn’t set them properly and made

mistake (for example SELECT button was on [] and O button didn’t work at all) and a

sound problem (I think I made some mistake when building game, since there was sound

    previous times)

Excellent work indeed! GameSuper also has a blog which he is posting his current progress.

You heard it here first on PS3Hax, stay tuned for more updates!

Reaver from TeknoGods has created a simple application that converts your PS3 ISO’s to PSJailbreak format, allowing it to be ran with backup manager.

    To quote from readme:

    ==Usage==
    1. Run tool
    2. Open your backup .iso
    3. Make folder called GAMEZ in your external USB HDD
    4. Extract ISO in GAMEZ (do not make any subfolders!)
    5. Run Backup Manager on PS3 with USB HDD plugged in
    6. Play

    ==NOTE!==
Required: Jailbreaked PS3 with backups enabled, External USB HDD

    ==Support==
This release is beta quality. If something breaks, review any
pertinent comments on teknogods.com, then email me as a last resort.
Include all log files and a detailed description of problem and
    how to reproduce it.

With PSJailbreak just around the corners it seems that PSJailbreak game dumps are creeping on to the internet:

Also for those unaware, PSJailbreak has a limitation on what games can be played on an external drive. Game dumps with individual files over 4gb currently can NOT be ran via external HDD, due to FAT32 restrictions. These game dumps will only work via internal PS3 HDD. PSJailbreak team is supposedly working on NTFS support.

The news keeps rolling in about the latest PS Jailbreak modchip that has the PS3 scene on a boom. Skeptical at first, but the more we here about it the better it gets, it seems that PS Jailbreak is the real deal and works on Fat and Slim units on the latest PS3 firmware. With the mass of information coming in we will try our best filter and organize the news as it comes.

ElOtroLado have done a very nice review of PS Jailbreak running on the PS3 Slim, you can read the full review below or at the source.

By reasons for work, see you tomorrow in the morning I am not going to be able to dedicate to him all along that I would like, but at least I am going to try to touch the basic points until it can complete review.

    Image

Sample sent by the manufacturer solely consists of a pencil of memory (PS Jailbreak) and a leaf with some explanations on the product. Most remarkable and what it matters to us it is:

    • The PS Jailbreak is compatible with any model of existing PlayStation 3 to day of today (as much FAT as SLIM).
    • We can as much realziar backups in the Internal HD as in an External HD.
    • It works with all the games of PlayStation 3.
    • It supports homebrew.
    • Actualizable to add new characteristics.

But imporante since it contradicts something that they indicate in his Web, it is that to be able to use it a version of firmware 3,41 in the console is essential, since the archives have been optimized for this version. It is not mentioned in any point if this characteristic is unique of samples sent, or will be common in end items, reason why at the moment is pending of explanation.

personally me it has been impossible to initialize the device with a previous version of firmware, but concretely with varsión 2,85, reason why I have had to update the console to version 3.41.

    REQUIREMENTS:

    • Installed Firmware 3,41 in the console (at least for sample that they have sent).
    • To unload the Backup Manager of its Web and to copy it in any external storage device USB with format FAT32.

    OPERATION:

    1. – We must always start off of which the console is dull before connecting USB to him PS Jailbreak. Following the console version we must:

    • PlayStation 3 FAT. It is enough with extinguishing the console from the back switch.
    • PlayStation 3 SLIM. It is essential to disconnect the feeder of the back part of the console.

We connect to any port USB of the console the PS Jailbreak, having the precaution of not having nothing else connected by USB.

    2. – We pressed the button of POWER of the console and to immediately afterwards we pressed the EJECT button. We will see how the 2 LEDS of the PS Jailbreak ignite while it loads the console (10 seconds approximately), and then you can happen several things:

    Image

*. – That the LED of Green color is ignition. What means that the PS Jailbreak is working correctly.

    Image

*. – That the LED of Red color is ignition. What means that the PS Jailbreak has not loaded correctly. Habitually this happens when we did not press the sequence of Power suitably and next Eject.

    Image

If the final result is the LED of ignited Red color, we will have to repeat the process from the beginning with the precaution to disconnect the feeder of the back part of the PlayStation 3 Slim or to cut the current from the back switch of the 3 PlayStation Fat.

    3. – Once device PS Jailbreak is loaded correctly, we connected the external storage device USB with the Backup Manager to the console.

    4. – We went to the GAME menu and we moved until the option “Install Package Files”, for next selecting Backup Manager.

    Image
    Image

    5. – Once finalized the process, if we moved at the end of the menu GAME will appear to us the Application Backup Manager. We selected it we executed and it.

    Image

    6. – Once executed, we must introduce in the reader of the console the game that we wish to do backup. If we wished to realise backup in external device USB, pressed the button Or.
It is possible to select the destiny of backup, since we can choose between the external storage device USB or the own HD of the console.

    Image
    Image

    7. – To load to culaquier backup already created it is enough with inserting a game in the console (the same game can be used always) and from the menu of the Backup Manager we will select backup wished and we will press button X. Also is possible to eliminate to culaquier backup pressing the button/.
The reason to have inserted a game in the reader of the console is simply to emulate the load process.

    Image

    8. – Once selected backup wished, and after pressing button X, we will return automatically to the main meú of the console, more concertamente to the option of Backup Manager, and to finalize to load the game, it will be enough with moving a single time upwards to see how the wished game appears to us there. We selected it and ready, already we can play ours backup!

    Image

I right now do not have time to prove the way online, nor to deepen everything what I would like, reason why as soon as is possible to me I will realise the tests.

Anyway, it is necessary to consider that once installed in the console the PS Jailbreak, no longer is possible to eliminate it.
    UPDATE:
Some important points that there am no addition at the outset and I believe that they must consider:

    • Backup of the GOW3 has taken approximately about 90 minutes in copying itself in the internal HD of the console.
    • The way online works perfectly.
    • It is impossible to apply updates in the games if they are being loaded from the PS Jailbreak, although these if that are applied perfectly if we loaded the game from the Blu-Ray.
    • In the same way, it is impossible to skip the videos of the games if load from the PS JAilbreak.
    • Although the Backup Manager is installed in the console, is essential that the PS Jailbreak is connected and activated correctly to be able to execute the Backup Manager.
    • If the PS Jailbreak with the ignited console retires either it is hung or it goes out, and I do not believe that it is very good nor for the console nor for the PS Jailbreak.

In order to verify if the PS Jailbreak were compatible with versions previous of firmware to the 3,41, I have bought a new console, and with the haste to the hour to initialize it and the headache that I take today, I have been mistaken and I put the date of yesterday, sorry! A thing less than the one than to worry!

Following on from Team XeDev’s release of NXE2GOD, here’s a new PC app for converting Xbox 360 ISO images straight into Games on Demand containers. While it’s possible to extract ISOs and run them off USB using replacement dashboards, it’s nice to be able to run them as GODs as well. This functionality has only been available through the Xbox 360 SDK until now, so we thought it was about time a legal app was released to perform the same task.

Thanks go out to Team XeDev/Dstruktiv for NXE2GOD which helped us figure out what was needed for CON->GOD converts. Special thanks to rolly poly for testing and putting up with my endless ramblings about file formats!

    FEATURES
    * ISO to Games on Demand container conversion
    * Support for XSF and GDF/XDVDFS ISOs
    * Automatically reads title info from ISO default.xex
    * Multiple I2G conversions can be queued up to run
    - Requires .NET Framework 2.0

    v1.0.6 updates:
    What’s new/fixed:

+ New GDF/XDVDFS code to improve stability and prepare for removing padding sectors in v1.1 release.
+ Taskbar icon now flashes when a conversion finishes
~ Fix: Access Denied errors when trying to open ISO on network shares.
~ Fix: Crash when locating default.xex on certain ISOs
~ Fix: Proper checking of fields in the “Add ISO” GUI
~ Fix: Trying to use an Xbox1 ISO won’t throw unhandled errors. (Xbox1 still not supported)
~ Fix: Lots of other minor stuff.

XeX Loader 0.12 is the first public and fully functional XEX loader for homebrew capable Xbox 360 consoles.

    Features:

    * Launch media-patched XEXs from any storage device
    * Manage the filesystems of all storage devices
    * Rip any inserted game to any storage device (ISO Extraction) – Still requires patching with XexTool or 360 Game Hack to remove the media check.

Although it should work on all patched kernels, our releases are only tested
with freeBOOT using Cygnos, not with XBRebooter. Sorry for the inconvenience.

    Installing the LIVE package:

    1) Burned CD/DVD using XeXLoader.iso
Use the file browser to copy (using the “X” button) the directory “C0DE9999″ to the 360 HDD at: Hdd1://Content/0000000000000000/

    2) Transfer Cable
Use appropriate software such as Xplorer 360 to copy the directory “C0DE9999″ to 360 hard drive at: Partition3Content

For those unfamiliar with USBLD, this file runs on the PS3 with swap magic and enables us to play PS2 ISOs via external storage device. The newest version adds support for more titles that were previously not compatible. The download link contains two ELF files, one with modhook and one without. Performance with modhook is being tested currently so please try both (and let us know if there is improved compatibility).
