A while back Robo Hobo released the DosBox Emulator for the PS3, shortly after wards, psgroove.com member ps3cfw created a tutorial on how to install Windows 95 and windows 3.1 on DosBox, after that a few members of PS3HaX started tinkering and experimenting.

Today PS3Hax Homebrew Developer samson, has released a beta version of a WinDos3.1, it is fully automated and will run without implementing any commands, here is a quote from the PM he sent me:

i’ve managed to give windows 3.1 a face lift, make it installable (to its own folder MINI90000) and included some funky stuff.

    3.55 only for the mo.

    drivers updated sb-16 , svga , ibmjoy

boots in about 45 seconds with optional 95/98 start menu (just remove from startup progs) with a nice custom portal wallpaper and GlaDos system sounds, and to top all that off afterdark (shareware i think) screensavers

other installed stuff incudes mod4win final beta and wmp .mod support, i’ve also incuded a large chunk of my mod collection (check Ghost in the CLI), wintalk .txt reader, paint shop, ms arcade acidwarp.. in fact too much to list.. check it out..

Its almost that time again, the most exciting time in a gamers year, the Electronic Entertainment Expo(E3), which is being held between the 7th and 9th of June, some of you might be new to gaming and don’t really know what E3 is all about, here is a quote from the official E3 website.

E3 Expo is the world’s premier trade show for computer and video games and related products. The show is owned by the Entertainment Software Association (ESA), the U.S. association dedicated to serving the business and public affairs needs of the companies, publishing interactive games for video game consoles, handheld devices, personal computers, and the Internet. For more information, please visit www.E3Expo.com or www.theESA.com.

There will be many companies there, but the three big contenders are Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo, below i will cover what each of these three may bring to the Expo going by various rumours, these are in no way official.

    Sony

Sony has a new handheld games console in the works, its project name is Next Gen Project or NGP, it is reported to have a Quad Core Processor as well as many other amazing features, today a gaming website(Games Pundit) stated that an unknown source, gave them information in regards to the official name of the new handheld machine, they revealed that name would be PS Vita, you can read more about it and vote here.

This E3 will be a little over six years since the PS3 was first showcased and although the first demo console was amazing, the final model released a year later didnt have all that Sony had originally promised, regardless, it was still an amazing machine.
Sony vice president and chief financial officer Masaru Kato has already confirmed that there is a PS4 in development, so will this year see a demo machine of the PS4 on display ?
Read more about that article here, regardless of what is and isn’t released, rumours are going to be wild spread and some of it unfortunately will be misleading, or unfortunately could be true in the case of the NGP, which has been reportedly downgraded spec wise from the original machine mentioned by Sony, this is a massive trait with Sony, promise big, then deliver less:

Original NGP Specs Reported By Sony:

Not mentioned in the image above is the RAM, which was reported to be 512MB, according to a French gaming website, that amount has been halved to 256MB, also the on board 16MB of storage space has also been removed, you can read the original article from the French website here or a Google translated version here.

    Microsoft

My personal opinion on the Xbox 360 is that they should have used HD-DVD’s as a gaming medium, this would have meant games would only have needed one disc instead of four in some cases, HD-DVD as a medium on a whole would also have survived and we would have seen a more exciting battle between HD-DVD and Blu Ray.

Rumours have it that we may see a new console, other rumours suggest 3D for the 360.

    Nintendo

Regardless of what a lot of 360 and PS3 fanboys say about the Wii, there is no denying that it was by far the most popular, the most entertaining and most sold console of this current generation, Nintendo has stated that they will release a successor to the Wii, which the no doubt will be showcased at E3, the console which is dubbed Project Cafe, will be far superior to the PS3 and Xbox 360, reports also suggest that it will have a new type of control pad, which will house a touch screen panel, the console is also said to be backward compatible with the Wii, though it seems that the machine wont have 3D.

Nintendo will also probably speak about the N3DS.

Amongst all the rumours and what we think and hope will be released, there is no doubt that this years E3 will be very exciting, i myself am looking forward to MS and Nintendo’s show’s and new footage for the new Elder Scrolls game, i think i will leave it there and let you make your own minds up, be sure to mention what you think may appear at this years E3 :)

You can download the E3 Floor Plan here, i created a PDF and marked the important stalls, so enjoy and you can be sure of plenty of E3 coverage on this forum when it happens.

Microsofts 2010 E3 presentation has come and gone, and was it awesome.

The first great game was announced by Hideo Kojima and introduced by Shiganobu Matsayama, it is called, Metal Gear Solid Rising and stars Raiden, the graphics were stunning and beautiful, the game seems to take a “Zan datsu” theme, which means cut everything and thats what Raiden did in the trailer, he sliced and diced a van and several enemies.

A few other games were also demoed, which are, Gears Of Wars 3, which has a new beast mode, Fable 3, Codename Kingdoms and Halo Reach.

Then it went on to the Kinect presentation, which was quite astounding, here is a list of things you can do:
Control your console with movement and voice commands.
Video chat with your Xbox Live friends and MSN friends, you can also watch movies with them.
The camera tracks your movement automatically.
Watch movies, only using your voice and hands.

The presentation went on to talk about the games, here is a list of some of the games:
Kinectimals, a game where you can interact with one of 48 animals and participate in 90 activities.
Kinect sports, which includes Football, Bowling and Boxing amongst other sports related games.
Kinect Joy Ride, a racing game.
Kinect Adventures, a a game where you use your whole body and play through 20 adventures.

Ubisoft revealed a game called Your Shape Fitness Evolved, and Harmonix revealed a dance game called Dance Central, which has
    600 moves and 90 routines.
Lucas Arts also revealed that they are working on a Kinect based game.
The last Kinect game that was showcased was Forza Motor Sport.

Kinect will go on sale this November the 4th in North America and will have 15 games at launch.

The most exciting part was the end, where Microsoft revealed a smaller redesigned Xbox 360 console, it is black, sexy, it will have a 250GB HDD, with built in Wireless N and will sell for the great price of $299, better still, it goes on sale today.

Thats the end of my Microsoft report, hope you enjoyed reading.

With Microsofts E3 presentation, in a few hours it seems strange that they couldn’t hold of until then, to reveal the final details of their motion device for Xbox 360 and PC, which was previously known as Project Natal.

    BBC’s News Website Reports:

Microsoft has revealed final details of its Xbox 360 hands-free motion control system, which it has rebranded Kinect.

The device, which was originally codenamed Project Natal, was showcased ahead of the opening of the E3 games expo, which starts on 15 June in LA.

Microsoft has said Kinect will hit shelves before the end of the year.

It will face competition from Sony’s PlayStation Move controller and Nintendo’s upgraded WiiMotion Plus.

    pic for news

Well it look’s like Microsoft are at it again with all the system ban’s that have been sent out in last few weeks this latest step shows that they are putting a stop to hackers once and for all…As you can read below

Datel announced that it has filed an antitrust lawsuit against Microsoft, in response to Microsoft’s lockout (via Xbox 360 firmware update) of the company’s Max Memory Cards. We doubt this is the “remedy” for the lockout issue to which the company previously referred, but it’s certainly one way to address it.

Microsoft has taken steps to render inoperable the competing Datel memory card for no visible purpose other than to have that market entirely to themselves,” Datel attorney Marty Glick explained in a press release. “They accomplished their recent update by making a system change that will not recognize or allow operation of a memory card with greater capacity than their own. We believe that with the power Microsoft enjoys in the market for Xbox accessories this conduct is unlawful.”

In the press release, Datel goes on to say that the lawsuit is intended to “restore competition” which, the company suggests, is beneficial to consumers. It’s now up to a federal court in San Francisco to determine whether the Max Memory-crippling Xbox update constitutes unlawful anti-competitive behavior on the part of Microsoft.

The last time Datel went to court, it viewed the experience from the other side. Sony filed suit against the peripheral maker over the “Lite Blue Tool,” which would have enabled users to run unsigned code on PSP hardware.

Just when a simple Live ban wasn’t enough, it seems Microsoft has gone the extra mile to stop piracy on the 360.

The new Xbox 360 Bans not only ban you from Live, but also block you from copying game to 360 HDD and not being able to earn achivements.

Kushan posts a lengthy and informative article on #FW@EFNet explaining the newest Microsoft ban wave.

    - What does this mean for you and what can you do about it?
Firstly, and most obviously, you cannot connect to Xbox Live on this console any more. This means no more game updates (aka title updates), XBLA games, marketplace content, netflix/sky player and so on. There is no way around this, all online capabilities are now disabled PERMANENTLY.

In all likelihood, your gamertag has NOT BEEN BANNED. When your gamertag gets banned, Microsoft sends you an email detailing why, if you have not recieved this email then your profile should be ok, to a certain extent.

Hard Drive installs are now disabled on the banned console. This means any disk-based games you have will no longer play off of the hard drive. If you attempt to play a game, it will tell you that it was installed on a different 360 and needs to be deleted/installed again. When you delete the game and attempt to install it, you are given a message telling you that it is not supported. There is no way to fix this, that functionality is simply gone from the banned 360.

The hard drive itself is left untouched – you can place it in another 360, even an unbanned one, and it will still work just fine. You do NOT need to reformat it to regain any kind of functionality. Any installed games will need to be reinstalled for the console you want to play them on. This is normal behaviour and happens when swapping HDDs on unbanned/legit 360′s.

Windows Media Centre functionality is disabled. It is still possible to stream video/music content via the video library.

Your Gamertag may be corrupted. This does not mean your gamertag has been banned, you can recover it using any live-capable 360, however ANY ACHIVEMENTS YOU HAVE EARNED SINCE BEING BANNED WILL BE LOST. Your gamertag will be corrupted EVERY SINGLE TIME it is used on a banned console. This means you cannot use your banned console to play backups offline just to get achievements – it wont work, the second you put your profile back on a good 360, it will be corrupted and all progress lost. There is no way around this.

The same applies to game saves – if you access a game save on a banned 360, it too will be corrupted when accessed on a legit/unbanned 360! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED! There is no way around this, either.

Your XBLA games and DLC will still be valid, however to play them on a different 360 you will need to be signed into Xbox Live. This is normal behaviour on unbanned/legit 360′s as well. They may be corrupted and have to be re-downloaded if you attempt to access them on a banned 360. You can transfer all of your downloaded content to a new 360 here: http://www.xbox.com/en-US/support/systemuse/xbox360/licensemigration/default.htm however note that you can only do it once every 12 months.

    So, in summary:
    Your Banned 360:
    * Cannot go on Xbox Live
    * Cannot install games to the HDD
    * Cannot use Windows Media Centre extender
    * Cannot be used to get achievements from backups without corrupting your profile

You cannot do anything about this, short of buying a new 360.

There may be more functionality disabled than mentioned here, things are still being discovered.

    - So what caused my ban?
There are MANY theories as to what is causing so many consoles to get banned this time, however as of yet there is nothing concrete, just a lot of circumstantial evidence and speculation. Please do not add to this, a full investigation is under-way.

c4eva, the main guy behind iXtreme, had this to say:
    <+c4eva> fw itself not detectable
<+c4eva> suspect they are going hard on warez releases and incorrect use of abgx!

    He also added the following:
<+c4eva> just to let you know that im looking into the current ban wave. I am currently running several brand new xboxs on live! These xboxs are in various configs. All are running ixtreme 1.61
<+c4eva> One is running original discs, another is running on xbl (no discs) , another is running a backup from my region!
<+c4eva> until tests are completed, no eta on liteon fw!

When we know more, YOU’LL no more, so please do not ask for updates!
A full transcript is available here – http://pastebin.ca/1660777

    Remember, if you really want to blame someone, blame the person that decided to modify your 360 in the first place – most likey, that would be you ;
