PS3Hax recently reported about a GTA IV mod, a fun and free way to enjoy your modified PS3 consoles.

JDMAlex and NativeSith, two PSX-SCENE developers have released their latest mod GTA IV WARZ – A NewISH Hope, full of epic new Jedi-like powers for you to use!

GTA IV WARZ – A NewISH Hope:

… a long time ago, an a galaxy far, far away; a scene developer by the name of Native Jedi reached out to Obi-T000 Kenobi, and other moderators throughout the scene worlds for help, because the Evil Empire was chasing him throughout the universe. The Empire was after him, for he was in possession of custom game modifications; ones that could be used to cripple the Empires plans on total universal domination.

The Empire seized control of his custom game modifications, and then all hope had seemed lost… but he joined with Obi-T000, and set up a secret Rebel base at PSX-Scene with Pave SoloEvilblunta and J2-D2; where they could once again design custom modifications for the games they own, without the fear of the Empire awaiting in ambush, trying to diminish and destroy their efforts.

With a team of other GTAIV game modders, two members of the Rebel Alliance, J2-D2 and Native Jedi, have unleashed their new plans that will bring a new era in GTAIV modifications. But with the ever watchful empire ready to destroy anyone who opposes them, the Rebels must remain secret in transferring the files. Please, you must resit the dark side. Join the Rebel Alliance today! And remember… The first rule of GTA IV WARZ, is there is no GTA IV WARZ!

    CONTROLS (Jedi Powers):

    • God Mode + Weapons = Button Stick Left + Button Stick Right // Good for when you get arrested allows you to get god mode back
    • Super Speed ON = Button Stick Left + R1
    • Super Speed OFF = Button Stick Left + R2
    • Clear Wanted = Button Stick Right + L1
    • Player Gravity ON = R1+L2
    • Player Gravity OFF = L1+R2

If that was enjoyable for you, the devs updated their work:

GTA IV WARZ – Da Empire S#!&’s Wack:

It is a dark time for the Rebellion. Although GTA IV WARZ – A NewISH Hope Edition had been successfully released into the universe,Native Vader has put together the a new troop of enforcers to help in the pursuit of the Rebels.

Evading the watchful eye of the Empire, a team of Rebels have installed GTA IV Wars onto their Jailbroken or Custom Firmware PS3s, and have set up rules about not posting pictures or videos.

The genius lord Native Vader, on his quest to find pictures and videos of J2-D2‘s and Native Jedi‘s mod, has dispatched a remote torrent into the farthest reaches of the internet…

After the Empire’s disappointing 1st appearance, they have come back and reinvented themselves.

    • Now with more troops as the Empire recruited throughout the galaxy.
    • The Swat Jedi comes with a empire HUD also his vehicles will no longer have scratches or mud!

Software developer and PS3HaX member zembor0, who was responsible for creating the popular Custom Dynamic Theme software, has created an awesome Hardware mod for the PS3, here is a small quote from his thread:

this is my PS3 case mod, there are 4 seven segment displays on the front. The left two show the temperature of the PS3 from a LM35dt temperature sensor i have added between the two heat-sinks on the motherboard. The two displays on the right show the current fans speed as a percent. The fan speed will go up as the temperature goes up, or you can set the fan speed manually with my TV remote. The display can be turned on or off with the remote, also you can make it count down from 99 to 0 in 1 second (i got bored so i added this, there is not practical reason).
I have also added a blue PlayStation logo on the top of the front of the PS3, as well as some red LEDs shining out of the air vents on the top and the front of the PS3. These LEDs have three modes, ON, OFF, and sound reactive. They will flash to whatever sound is coming out of the PS3. Of course these modes are selected from the remote.

KillerBug has updated his PS3 Fan monitoring “Hardware Mod Firmware”, to version 0.02a, here is a quote from the blog and a snippet from the code:

Big changes this time…now it uses two 7-segment displays and 5 LEDs; all four temperature readings are displayed as well as the fan speed percentage. Still does serial, still easily configurable. Due to the nature of this new design, I decided to make a video.

This is a script primarly designed for Sony PS3 mods, but designed to be easily changable for other applications.

    PS3_HW_MOD_FW_KillerBug_Arduino – Version 0.02a
    By Killer Bug

    Features:
1.) Reads 4 thermistors, uses them to control the fan. Also displays temperatures and fan speeds on a pair of 7-segment displays. Also transmits all four temperatures and fan speed by serial to a PC or other serial capable device.
As the script is designed, these are placed as follows:
-Thermistor 0 is attached to CPU heatsink base
-Thermistor 1 is attached to GPU heatsink base
-Thermistor 2 is attached to the northbridge chip
-Thermistor 3 is placed at the front, in front of the vents, or the on the emotion engine if equiped.

-This script is designed for ground-controlled displays with ground controlled decimal points. It can be converted to work with hot-controlled displays with hot-controlled decimal points. To do this, first make a copy of all the instructions between the two sets of long ==== lines elsewhere, as the process will destroy the instructions before you are done.

Recently i have been playing about with game intro’s and i really wanted to add a custom one to Dead Rising 2, the problem was, i couldnt find the into file, it wasnt in the small amount ok .bik files and the only files that were left were .big, so i went on my search for a .big tool, which brought me to this site and tool, the site is for PC mods for Dead Rising 2, visit here to download.

So i grabbed the tool and decided too look around the site at the various mods they had, i found this mod, which lets you have several weapons, in the safe house were you first enter, these include:
    Spitballgun
    FireSpitter
    BFG
    Super-BFG
    Snowball Cannon
    Katana Sword
    RocketLauncher – FireWorks
    Amongst others
So this confirms that you can use already made PC mods on your PS3 version of Dead Rising 2 :)

So after i tried the mod successfully on my PS3, i went back to searching for the intro video and started unpacking all the folders, i will provide a tutorial on how to do that.

First you will need the program i asked you to download at the top of this post:
You then need to find the “Data” folder in your game, this holds all the .bik and .big files, make sure to make a back up of that folder.
Once you have the program downloaded, right click on a .big file, select properties, find “opens with”, select “change”, scroll until you find “Gibbed.DeadRising2.Unpack.exe”, select that, then apply, now all you will have to do, is double click the .big and it will automatically unpack the file, when you have finished what you have to do in that folder, drag the folder to where you have “Gibbed.DeadRising2.Pack.exe” and that will pack the folder into a usable .big.
Here is a video for easy showing you how

Ok so you want to try a few mod’s, i have made a video showing you exactly how to do it, make sure you watch it in HD, what you will need is this mod and this mod

I guess the only thing for me to do is show you a video of the mod’s in action on the PS3:

One of the things that PSGroove and jailbreaking the PS3 has opened up, is the world of game modding. PS3 users have not yet had the freedom to do this, but with the PS3 security exploited, we do now :) .

PS3Hax member anti087 has posted a tutorial on how to mod Grand Theft Auto IV for the PS3. I am sure there are endless possibilites to do, for many other games as well so feel free to post your tutorial on our forums.

You can view the GTAIV PS3 modding tutorial HERE.

techknott from BenHeck forums has created a PS3 Wirless Visual Interface (WVI) portable. The mod contains a wireless video receiver connected to the actual PS3 that outputs the video (wirelessly) from a certain range. The portable does not contain any PS3 components except the controller.  The mod features a 4500maH Li-ion rechargeable battery with LED meter, 5″ LCD (standard def), AV, headphone and USB ports. The wireless receiver used is 1.2 GHz (to prevent inteference with PS3 controller).  Screen shots and video below:

Ben Heck has made his newest PS3 laptop using the PS3 slim and components. Video and read more link.

Maybe this will get me motivated working again on my second laptop revision I started about a year ago :)
