Its almost that time again, the most exciting time in a gamers year, the Electronic Entertainment Expo(E3), which is being held between the 7th and 9th of June, some of you might be new to gaming and don’t really know what E3 is all about, here is a quote from the official E3 website.

E3 Expo is the world’s premier trade show for computer and video games and related products. The show is owned by the Entertainment Software Association (ESA), the U.S. association dedicated to serving the business and public affairs needs of the companies, publishing interactive games for video game consoles, handheld devices, personal computers, and the Internet. For more information, please visit www.E3Expo.com or www.theESA.com.

There will be many companies there, but the three big contenders are Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo, below i will cover what each of these three may bring to the Expo going by various rumours, these are in no way official.

    Sony

Sony has a new handheld games console in the works, its project name is Next Gen Project or NGP, it is reported to have a Quad Core Processor as well as many other amazing features, today a gaming website(Games Pundit) stated that an unknown source, gave them information in regards to the official name of the new handheld machine, they revealed that name would be PS Vita, you can read more about it and vote here.

This E3 will be a little over six years since the PS3 was first showcased and although the first demo console was amazing, the final model released a year later didnt have all that Sony had originally promised, regardless, it was still an amazing machine.
Sony vice president and chief financial officer Masaru Kato has already confirmed that there is a PS4 in development, so will this year see a demo machine of the PS4 on display ?
Read more about that article here, regardless of what is and isn’t released, rumours are going to be wild spread and some of it unfortunately will be misleading, or unfortunately could be true in the case of the NGP, which has been reportedly downgraded spec wise from the original machine mentioned by Sony, this is a massive trait with Sony, promise big, then deliver less:

Original NGP Specs Reported By Sony:

Not mentioned in the image above is the RAM, which was reported to be 512MB, according to a French gaming website, that amount has been halved to 256MB, also the on board 16MB of storage space has also been removed, you can read the original article from the French website here or a Google translated version here.

    Microsoft

My personal opinion on the Xbox 360 is that they should have used HD-DVD’s as a gaming medium, this would have meant games would only have needed one disc instead of four in some cases, HD-DVD as a medium on a whole would also have survived and we would have seen a more exciting battle between HD-DVD and Blu Ray.

Rumours have it that we may see a new console, other rumours suggest 3D for the 360.

    Nintendo

Regardless of what a lot of 360 and PS3 fanboys say about the Wii, there is no denying that it was by far the most popular, the most entertaining and most sold console of this current generation, Nintendo has stated that they will release a successor to the Wii, which the no doubt will be showcased at E3, the console which is dubbed Project Cafe, will be far superior to the PS3 and Xbox 360, reports also suggest that it will have a new type of control pad, which will house a touch screen panel, the console is also said to be backward compatible with the Wii, though it seems that the machine wont have 3D.

Nintendo will also probably speak about the N3DS.

Amongst all the rumours and what we think and hope will be released, there is no doubt that this years E3 will be very exciting, i myself am looking forward to MS and Nintendo’s show’s and new footage for the new Elder Scrolls game, i think i will leave it there and let you make your own minds up, be sure to mention what you think may appear at this years E3 :)

You can download the E3 Floor Plan here, i created a PDF and marked the important stalls, so enjoy and you can be sure of plenty of E3 coverage on this forum when it happens.

I wasn’t sure about posting this, as there is no solid proof, that this is playing on the PS3, it could very well be the Emulator running on a computer, anyhow, someone named Britizio has apparently created a Wii Emulator for the PS3, which he calls WiSH, here is the video of it in action:

This is just a rumour, so take it as so.

As i reported here yesterday, EA were to announce six new titles, the titles are as followed.

    Darkspore

Darkspore will feature dynamic, fast-paced action as players battle across alien worlds to save the galaxy from the mutated forces of Darkspore in a four-player co-operative and full single-player campaign, as well as intense multiplayer battles. In order to defeat the malicious Darkspore, players will need to collect an arsenal of living weapons – genetic heroes with different combat abilities – and upgrade them with tens of thousands of collectible body parts and armor.

Also, Darkspore will feature three unique classes of five different genetic hero types, with a limitless number of upgrades and customizations available through the parts players collect on each planet level. As players progress, Darkspore builds in intensity, with new planets and enemy forces requiring players to strategically select the right squad and ability combinations to succeed in their missions.

    Alice: Madness Returns

Eleven years ago a horrific fire took Alice’s family from her and left her terribly burned—and her mind terribly scarred. Afterwards she was confined to Rutledge Asylum, struggling to come to terms with her demons by slipping into her fantasy world of Wonderland. Now, after ten years, she has finally secured her release–yet she still bears the heavy psychological burden of that tragic event.

In Alice: Madness Returns, Alice is released from the asylum to a London psychiatrist’s care. As nightmarish hallucinations continue to haunt her and invade her reality, she seeks to understand her torment in order to recover herself. Her mind in tatters, she is unable to resolve the fear and neuroses prompted by her strange memories, dreams, and visions. Her relocation to London seems only to add to their number and intensity.

Perhaps she’ll do better in Wonderland. She always has. She travels there, seeking what the “real” world can’t provide: security, knowledge, and the truth about the past. But in her absence, Wonderland too has suffered. Something has gone horribly wrong, and now a great evil is descending upon what once was her beautiful refuge.

Can Alice save Wonderland—and herself—from the madness that consumes them both?

Wherever your Sims go, they’ll discover new things to become—adored celebrities, all-night partiers, rowdy bandmates, or sexy vampires.

EA Sports Active: NFL Training Camp

EA SPORTS Active NFL Training Camp is a football-based training program that puts you right into the training drills and workouts of the real NFL Training Camp.

Additionally, users will be able to track and share their workout stats with friends on the new EA SPORTS Active online hub.

    Fight Night: Champion

Fight Night Champion will break the mold of what is expected in a single-player sports game. Players will be introduced to an entirely new way to step between the ropes and experience the drama, emotion, excitement and tragedy of world championship boxing.

Featuring a refined physics-based animation system that incorporates improved locomotion, punching and stamina mechanics, Fight Night Champion will enable users to move, attack and dodge with the speed and power of the best champions, contenders and pretenders in the world of boxing. In addition, an all-new control scheme, dubbed Full Spectrum Punch Control, will deliver the most realistic punching system ever seen in a simulation fighting game, while still delivering an accessible experience that will make Fight Night Champion the most user-friendly title in the franchise’s history.

Fight Night Champion will set a new standard for visual presentation with the most realistic boxer-likeness to date, fluid animations and damage that truly conveys the brutality of the sport of boxing.

    Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning

Reckoning is a single-player RPG that sets players on a heroic journey to unlock the mysteries of Amalur. Amalur is a magical world, filled with strange landscapes, exotic cities, colorful characters and terrifying creatures.

E3 has to be the most anticipated gaming event, which is held every year, its where the big guys behind the consoles show their new tech and where the game developers demo their upcoming games.

Well it seems you have a chance to win a place at this years E3 event, here are the details:

For the “Win a Trip to E3 2010” contest, we want you to create an “open letter” video to Kevin Butler—everyone’s favorite PlayStation® VP in the “Dear PlayStation” commercials. Make sure it’s funny, creative and original. A couple of things you want to include:

    * Each video should begin with the phrase “Dear PlayStation”
    * Include your take on Kevin Butler’s ever-changing title
    * Make sure you include your own name and title (e.g., John Smith, Desperate Fan)
    * Keep your submissions brief and to the point (30 seconds or less)
    * Videos can be about anything PlayStation related
    * All content must be original—no copyrighted music, video, pictures, etc.
    * Don’t film Kevin’s response
    * Need some inspiration? Check out the television commercials here

Three lucky winners will receive airfare to Los Angeles, entry to E3 (June 15, 16, 17), three nights hotel accomodations and per diem.

    Submission Guidelines:

When you’re through with your masterpiece, here’s how you submit it:

    * Don’t send us your video file
    * Do submit your video file to your favorite social media site
    * Email us that link and your current contact information (including phone number) to: playstation_community_support@playstation.sony.com

    An amusing story from news.com.au

A LIBERALl MP has become embroiled in a controversy after using Parliamentary privilege to ask the Victoria Government to buy a vexatious litigant a Nintendo Wii console.

Assistant Opposition treasurer Gordon Rich-Phillips made an Upper House plea for a Coburg resident to be given “a certain rehabilitation aid” by Victoria’s WorkCover Authority.

But a WorkSafe Victoria investigation found the “aid” was the popular Wii fit game and console and rejected it as a reasonable medical tool to aid the resident’s rehabilitation from a work-related injury.

WorkCover Minister Tim Holding said Victorian workers and employers who funded the scheme would be appalled by Mr Rich-Phillips’ “behaviour”.

“Gordon Rich-Phillips is saying we should spend WorkCover money on video games when the claim has already been assessed and knocked back,” Mr Holding said.

“This just shows how out of touch Ted Baillieu and his Liberal Party MPs are.”

The resident said he has not worked in four years despite last week being listed as a funeral celebrant.

He denied trying to rort the system and accused WorkCover of manipulating his file to avoid paying for the computer system.

“I can’t articulate the effect it has had on me,” the resident said.

“I’ve tried to go to work but every time I do I have a panic attack.”

Mr Rich-Phillips admitted the case was “complicated”.

“WorkCover has not taken the matter seriously,” he said.
